Rumor: Astros Close in on Lee
The Houston Astros have reportedly intensified talks with Carlos Lee. While originally seen as the front runners to land the free agent outfielder, the Astros had faced fresh competition from the Phillies and Orioles. Lee was originally expected to sign a 5 year $75 million contract, however, it has been rumored that a bidding war has developed. Today reports out of Houston claimed that negotiations between the team and Lee had picked up steam. The Astros latest offer is reportedly for a 6 year deal in the area of $80 million and are so serious that Astros owner Drayton McLane has returned to Houston.
