Trade Report: Cardinals Acquire Catcher from Dodgers

KThe St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have acquired veteran catcher Kelly Stinnett for cash considerations from the Los Angles Dodgers. The move comes no doubt in response to starting catcher Yadier Molina’s injury and ends the rumors we reported earlier this week.

Personally, I’d have liked to see something a bit more substantial but with the way Gary Bennett has been swinging the bat lately (.300 and 6 RBI in his last 7 games) I can understand the Cardinals taking the safer route. Stinnett isn’t exactly an offensive force, batting only .209 with 9 RBI last year in 91 at bats split between the Yankees and Mets, however, the 13 year veteran will provide the experience behind the plate until Molina returns.

Bah, right you are. I was too eager to write about Gary Bennett. Thanks for the correction.
