I was asked to do this sponsored review of a trivia site that supposedly allows you to answer questions for a chance to win a cash jackpot. Being a fairly big trivia fan, I decided to check it out. Triviaonnet.com was the site and sure enough they have music, entertainment, and most importantly to me, sports trivia. The prizes all vary in size but the sports jackpot is around $750 at the time of this writing. So that’s great right? I mean it’s free to sign up, free to play and you have a chance to win some cold hard cash!

Well not so fast there trigger. If you’re in certain parts of the US (I believe most states actually), you’re not actually eligible to play or sign up for that matter. According to their FAQ page, " Due to recent federal legislation, Individuals logging in from various states are banned from playing real money games." That wouldn’t seem to prevent US citizens from signing up but when I tried to register I was given this error message "We cannot process your registration due to legal ramnifications of your territory legislation. We apologize for the inconvenience."

The spelling error aside, it seems to me like someone’s legal department needs to double check what’s written on the website. Personally I think all the gambling laws need to be rewritten to include the reality we now live in where anyone, any time can jump online and wager money. But, until those changes are made, it looks like I’ll be watching from the outside when it comes to Triviaonnet.com. That pretty much ***** as well, especially when I saw there’s a $10k Tournament scheduled for December!
